In
1985, Nature's Blend was established to fill a void in the
wood products industry. Some of the first products manufactured included
decorative wooden brick appliques and flooring. In 1987, Nature's Blend
expanded into its current location in the old PPG Glass plant
in Ford City along the Allegheny River. In 1989, Nature's Blend began
manufacturing cabinet doors and drawer fronts for the Manufactured and
Modular home community. In that same year, the company had excedded
$1.5 million in sales with just three regular customers.
Most
of the door components were outsourced as Nature's Blend became more
efficient at assembling and finishing these new products. In 1999, with
annual sales over $7 million and servicing a larger customer base, the
manufacturing environment became cramped and additional space was needed.
Nature's Blend added an additional 40,000 square feet to the product
floor. This gave Nature's Blend a facility with over 80,000 square feet
of production space.
With
this larger facility came new challenges. Nature's Blend had to redesign
the production layout to reduce production time and lower costs. Nature's
Blend is now prepared to accept the challenges of delivering value to
an everchanging marketplace.
